WANTING TO BE APART OF AN OUTREACH TEAM?
We are excited that you are interested in serving in outreach through TWC. Our goal is to change a city through acts of service, mentorship, investment and generosity. The following teams are working together to better understand the needs in our valley and to plan effective ways to meet those needs as a church. Feel free to join as many planning teams as you are interested in. You will be added to the team GroupMe in order to share in discussion, be made aware of details and to be aware of meeting times.
FOSTER CARE: Lead: Kelly Polinsky Our valley is hard hit by a drug crisis that has escalated the need for foster care and support for children and families who are in transition. This team is working together to plan for support in meeting physical needs, training and supporting future foster families and providing support and respite care for current foster families in the Mid Ohio Valley
JUVENILE RECOVERY MENTORSHIP: Lead: Joe Fields/Alanna Kelly This team is working together to provide mentorship and community service opportunities for youth in the region who are participating in the Juvenile Drug Court program, as well as those who are struggling with addiction.
LATROBE STREET MISSION: Lead: Todd Compston This team plans regular evening meals for the mission and is building volunteer teams to provide support in the thrift store, serve breakfast and lunch, address larger long term projects on a biannual basis and to help Latrobe Street Mission in practical ways.
ELDER CARE: Lead: Lori Boothe This team is planning events for the elderly in extended care facilities, phone support, encouragement and visitation for the elderly community in our valley
COMMUNITY GARDEN: Lead: Victoria Kline This group is planning, planting, maintaining and harvesting a community garden at Point Park Marketplace in order to provide fresh food for several of our local agencies, for use by the Latrobe Street team in meal prep, and for our homeless community
GENERAL OUTREACH: We currently have a team planning larger events, rapid response and evaluating the greater needs of the community around the Parkersburg area community calendar. This team is investigating local agencies to determine potential partnerships and includes building projects, serve days, community beautification projects and more. Specific teams will evolve from this group.
